Day 18: I'll grow up next summer
^^^ Machine Gun Kelly "Drunk Face"
I'm sharing a top secret recipe straight from the Stopka arsenal.
WONTONS! These are gem, a diamond, a weekly staple, a delicacy. And only 4 ingredients!
Wonton wrappers (1/2 a pack)
Cream cheese (1 lb package)
Green onions (about 5, chopped)
Sriracha (about a tablespoon, or more, depending on how spicy you want)
STEPS 1 & 2ish: Chop up those green onions and soften the cream cheese in the microwave (or just leave it out for a while until it gets to room temp).
Combine Sriracha, green onion, and cream cheese. Mash it all together on a plate. I like them spicy so the more Sriracha the merrier. To each their own. The world is your oyster.
Step 4: THE PREP
Take your wonton wrapper and lay it flat. Scoop some of the mixture onto the center of the 'ton. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a dip of water.
Step 5: THE ASSEMBLY
Fold the corners of the wrapper into the center of the wonton, pressing down the final corner like you're sending an envelope with a love letter to your secret crush: filled with hope, excitement, glee, and sealed with a kiss.
Step 6: THE EXECUTION
Tonight I used an air fryer, but I have used regular vegetable oil with an excellent outcome. Honestly, the air fryer 'tons tasted 99% the same as the oil fried wontons.
I drizzled about 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil into the air fryer basket so the wontons wouldn't stick.
I cooked at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. I did this in two batches, and on the second batch I only cooked for about 7 minutes since the fryer was still hot.
Step 7: THE FINISHED LOOK
Try not to eat all at once. It's a challenge. Enjoy!
